Yesterday, Sunday 5 February, seven intrepid Caythorpe Scouts swapped their uniform, neckers and usual outdoor activities for swim kit and goggles, and joined the huge community fundraiser, Grantham’s RotarySwimarathon.
In its 34th year, the RotarySwimarathon has the aim of raising monies for local charities and deserving causes in and around Grantham. From the first event in 1990 to the present day, the team has achieved its aims, with the event going from strength to strength every year and raising over £940,000 so far.
While parents baked on poolside, cheering on our team, our Scouts achieved a remarkable 116 lengths in their 50 minute relay. Sheer grit and determination shone through, with comments including ‘my arms are broken’ not stopping the team swimming right to the end of the event. It was a huge achievement and we’re incredibly proud of the whole team.
So far we’ve raised over £125 in cash and online donations. If you’d like to contribute, please click here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/caythorpescouts
